Detroit Diesel Inline Series 71
The Inline 71 Series was the first model created when General Motors established Detroit Diesel Corporation in 1938. This two-stroke diesel engine was originally named by the displacement per cylinder it produces and was available in 3, 4, and 6 cylinders (70.93 in 3).
During World War II, the engine began its career powering tanks, generators, and machinery for building roads for the US and Allied forces. It earned a reputation for dependability, simplicity, and adaptability.
One of the oldest diesel engines ever produced, the Detroit Diesel 71 series is employed in a wide range of industries including highway, maritime, and industrial applications.

In 1987, the well-known Detroit Series 60 engine debuted. This in-line, 4-cycle, 6-cylinder diesel engine satisfies the high need for a fuel-efficient heavy-duty engine by using the cutting-edge DDEC electronic fuel control technology to deliver engine management reports.
